All sites/clans need money and most of us have to pull from our own pockets or from our members.  What if there was a way to make money from the site you already have in place. Well guess what there is.  Google adsense is a form of advertising from your very own site that can use to generate money.

You have probably seen advertisements on sites everywhere on the web.  Why do you think most websites have them?  Simple, to generate money.  Some for their own pockets and some to maintain their site.  Wouldn't this be a simple way to offset donations from your clan members or server regulars?

I first learned about google a little over a month ago from SDN Cornut.  When he first told me about this program I honestly didn't believe him.  It sounded like one of those 'too good to be true stories'.  Although it isn't easy to be successful with this program it does take some learning and understanding to start generating lots of cash flow.  I have spent a lot of time manipulating my ad placement, changing the look of our site, advertising our site in various locations, and reading more about adsense at forums like Digital Point Forums.

How much can I make?  You can generate anywhere from hundreds to thousands of dollars.  Your amount earned depends on the amount of clicks you receive.  An ad can earn you from $.01 to $20 or more per click.  Keep in mind gaming sites generally earn lower than say medical, law, real estate, or other relate sites, but there is still money to be had.  Our site currently receives around 75-100 unique hits a day and we generally receive around 5-10 ad clicks per day.  Our daily income is anywhere from $2.50-$4.00.  That can total up to $120 a month!

How does it work?  Adsense uses a javascript that is loaded when users visit your site.  This javascript will load an advertisement based on your meta keywords and current page content.  It also displays ads based on the current users geographical location.  Placement of these ads are all up to you but they generally work better when blended in with your site content rather than using the "eye popping, neon sign" method.

How long does it take to get started?  Making an account is quick and it usually takes 2-3 days for google to approve your site.  There is a laundry list of rules that google strictly enforces.  Some of the simple ones include:  No porn sites or gambling sites allowed.  You can't influence users/visitors to click by sending them messages or putting text above an ad that implies clicking.  You can't click on ads yourself.

How do I put ads on my site?  Once you have your account setup you simply log in to www.google.com/adsense and click Adsense Setup.  There are various styles and sizes to fit your unique website.  Where to place them on your website is up to you.

When do I get my money?  You will receive a check by mail or direct deposit (depending on your setup with google) after reaching $100.  If you reach $100 say before the end of April google will mail or deposit your check before the end of May.  It is that simple.
